Over the last decade, under the leadership of our previous CEO, my former colleague and friend, Dr. Jack Kitts, The Ottawa Hospital has undergone a steady transformation to become a model for patient-centered care in hospitals across Canada. We have built leading research programs that have produced world-firsts in cancer therapeutics, neuroscience, regenerative medicine, chronic disease, and practice-changing research.
With your help, we have been successful in creating an environment of excellence where the sharpest minds in the world come to innovate. After living The Ottawa Hospital’s values for more than two decades through my work at the hospital, I now have the privilege of leading our team through the next stage of healthcare transformation that will be on an unprecedented scale in Ottawa. I truly believe that we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a legacy of world-class care, not just for us but for our children and the generations that follow.
Over the next decade we will build future capacity. This means that we will grow our talented and engaged workforce and invest in new technologies to support world-class patient care. We will create sustainable infrastructure, which includes the development of our new Carling Site near Dow’s Lake. This 21st century campus will be instrumental in transforming healthcare in our community for the next century.
We will continue to integrate care between our hospital and our community partners so that our services and expertise are accessible to our patients across the region when and where they need it.We will ensure care is value based, where a patient's quality of life is always at the forefront of everything we do.
We will revolutionize healthcare through groundbreaking research and innovation that will provide our patients, families, and the community with access to the most advanced treatments available anywhere in the world.We are committed to meeting the many health and wellness needs of our community for generations to come.
